  • It provides well enough cargo space.
  • It offers a spacious third row in its segment.
  • It has a stylish and attractive interior and exterior styling.
  • It offers speedy acceleration.

  • Unrefined transmission is provided.
  • It rates poor fuel economy.

The 2022 Volkswagen Atlas is the widest Volkswagen ever produced, and it was designed expressly to fulfill the demands and wants of American buyers. It offers one of the most spacious third rows in its class and sufficient cargo capacity. It’s also one of the more family-friendly options in its category. For its beautiful design, performance, interior material quality, and features, the Atlas competes against the other midsize three-row SUVs. We don’t expect any significant changes in 2022 because the Atlas was only updated last year. It seemed newer because of the updated exterior style and renovated interior.

What’s Newly Include in 2022

The new upgrades in the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas include the following features:

  • There are no significant changes expected.

Engine, Transmission, and Fuel Efficiency

For the 2022 Atlas, Volkswagen presents two engine options. The first is the standard 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which delivers 235 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The second option is a 3.6-liter V-6 engine with 276 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. Both engines are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The V-6 provides good performance, achieving 60 mph in 7.3 secs, but the Atlas has terrible fuel economy. With FWD, the four-cylinder model achieves 21/25 mpg city/highway, while AWD gets 20/24 mpg. In exchange for more power, the V-6 comes at a cost in terms of fuel economy. The V-6 Atlas gets 18/24 mpg in FWD and 17/23 mpg in AWD, according to the EPA.

What is the seating capacity?

Volkswagen considered interior space when designing the Atlas. It has plenty of storage and passenger space, and the third row can easily accommodate two average-sized adults. A now-standard 8.0-inch digital gauge cluster will help drivers. The center infotainment screen is also simple to navigate.

Interior Quality

The Atlas is essential, functional, and clean on the inside, as Volkswagen is known for. A flat-bottom steering wheel lends a little sparkle to the straight-edge style. In Atlas 2022, we expect that the same design will maintain. Inside’s lots of space inside an Atlas, but you don’t want to spend too much time there. It is inefficient and pricey, and it drives poorly. Volkswagen, in our view, can do better.

Cargo Space

Behind the third row, there’s a massive 20.6 cubic feet of storage. When the rear seats are folded down, the capacity expands to a vast, impressive 55.5 cubic feet. Lowering the second and third rows offers an impressive 96.8 cubic feet of room if the Atlas needs to be called into action for moving day or a furniture store pickup.

Safety Features

The Atlas comes standard with various safety features, such as blind-spot monitoring, auto emergency braking, and rear cross-traffic alert. All trims come with adaptive cruise control. Buyers must upgrade to the SEL version or higher to get automatic high beams, traffic jam assist, and lane-keeping assist.

Infotainment, Bluetooth, and Navigation

The 2022 Volkswagen Atlas has a 6.5-inch touchscreen and an 8.0-inch digital instrument cluster as a standard kit. Android Auto and Apple CarPlayare included as standard features. The optional Tech package for the entry-level SE trim adds USB-C connections to the back row, which should come in handy for people who want to transport a significant number. The Atlas comes standard with Volkswagen’s IQ. Drive driver assistance collection, which adds some convenience technology to the three-rows versatility.

Should I Buy a 2022 Volkswagen Atlas?

Yes, it would be best if you bought, but before considering it. It is a must to review the specifications, features, and trims offered in this model. The Volkswagen Atlas may not be our favorite three-row SUV, but it has remained fresh thanks to a series of design, technological, and interior updates.
