2022 Subaru Forester Review
Table of Contents
Overview
The Forester SUV has successfully combined Subaru’s outdoorsy image with the practicalities of a small crossover, but its mediocre flat-four engine provides the sluggish acceleration, tempering its attractiveness. The 2022 Subaru Forester receives a styling update that gives it a more truck-like look, but the interior remains as comfy and functional as ever, exceptionally airy and chaos with useful storage cubbies.
All-wheel drive is standard on the Forester, as it is on the majority of Subaru cars. Similar features can be found in key competitors like the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4. However, the RAV4 and CR-V all come with stronger gasoline engines, making the Forester seem weak in comparison. However, the Forester will be a good option for customers who like the adventurous nature of Subarus.

What’s Newly Include in 2022
The new upgrades in the Subaru Forester 2022 include the following features:
- New exterior design
- New wheels and color schemes.
- Brand New “Wilderness Edition.”
Engine, Transmission, and Fuel Efficiency
The 2.5-liter flat-four-cylinder engine found in all Forester models produces 182 horsepower and has a towing capacity of 1500 pounds. A continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) transfers the engine’s power to Subaru’s all-wheel-drive system, which is the company’s trademark.
With EPA fuel economy ratings that match the majority of the small crossover category (26 mpg city, 33 mpg highway), the Forester is likely to satisfy efficiency-conscious buyers. Our Forester Touring test car missed its highway fuel economy rating by one mpg, earning 32 mpg in our 75-mph highway fuel economy test. However, that figure is similar to the performance of the Honda CR-V Touring and Toyota RAV4 Adventure.

2022 Subaru Forester Interior
The Forester’s interior is simple and uncomplicated, with a comfortable driving position and excellent visibility. The interior of our Touring model was beautifully completed with caramel-colored leather on the seats, door panels, and dash; textured plastic trim placed on the rest of the cabin looked and felt good quality.
The rear seat is suitably roomy (there is no third row), and even adults should find the bench seat a pleasant perch for road trips. After folding the rear seats, we had enough for a whopping 23 carry-on bags. The CR-V can hold 25 carry-on bags more than the CX-5 and RAV4 with the rear seats folded down.
All Forester models have a touchscreen infotainment system with Subaru’s newest Starlink interface as standard. A 6.5-inch display is standard on the base, Premium, and Sport versions, while a larger 8.0-inch unit is available on the Sport and standard on the Limited and Touring variants.
Two USB ports are supplied for front-seat passengers; two more USB ports are available and located on the back of the center console, allowing rear-seat passengers to charge their phones. Navigation is optional; for those who choose a lower-level model, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are both included and can give turn-by-turn directions broadcast from the user device.

Should I Buy a 2022 Subaru Forester?
Yeah, the 2022 Subaru Forester is a nice choice because it features good fuel economy, user-friendly infotainment features, standard all-wheel drive, and a spacious interior.
