Overview

The new 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross offers comfy seats and some simple-to-use technological features. Still, it is not the trendy, refined, and premium appearance of many small SUV rivals. The 2022 Eclipse Cross isn’t a complete redesign. It rides on the same platform and is powered by the same engine and transmission as before.

However, the exterior has been given a significant makeover, and the interior has received some nice ergonomic upgrades that will make it more pleasant to drive daily. Even though the Cross’s cabin is roomy for passengers and cargo, its interior trim does not equal the elegance of category leaders such as the Volkswagen Tiguan, Mazda CX-5, and Toyota RAV4.

What’s Newly Include in 2022

The 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander is almost fully redesigned.

Engine, Transmission, and Fuel Efficiency

The 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross has a turbocharged four-cylinder engine. At the test track, the last one we tested jogged to 60 mph in 8.6 seconds. The engine produces power smoothly when paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission.

Although aggressive throttle applications produce less engine noise than expected, highway driving is quiet and unremarkable, which is exactly what we want from crossovers in this class. The vehicle’s fuel efficiency is lackluster and unremarkable.

According to the EPA, the Eclipse Cross should perform better in the city than many of its competitors, so keep your driving habits in mind when comparing it to other vehicles of similar size. The ES front-wheel drive is the most fuel-efficient model, which gets 26 mpg in the city, 29 mpg on the highway, and 27 combined mpg.

What is the seating capacity?

There are five seats in the Eclipse Cross. The seats in the front are flexible and comfy, with enough head and legroom. Forward visibility is excellent, and there are blind spots behind the vehicle.

Even while the back row isn’t as roomy, but it’s still suitable for adults. Tall individuals may have difficulty getting in and out of the car due to the roofline, although the doors open wide to help reduce the problem.

How many Child Car Seats?

The rear outboard seats have two full sets of LATCH connectors, and the rear center seat has a tether anchor.

Interior Quality

The interior of the Eclipse Cross is pretty good, and it feels like it’s early days and incorporates very hard plastic. If this Mitsubishi wants to compete with competitor cabins that are more trendy, elegant, and premium, it still has to improve.

Cargo Space

This Mitsubishi isn’t one of the best cargo haulers in the class. It has 23.4 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats (23.2 cubic feet in sunroof versions) and 50.1 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down (49.7 cubic feet in sunroof models), which are smaller than the majority of rivals.

Infotainment, Bluetooth, and Navigation

The touch screen on this Mitsubishi is easily accessible (it is 2 inches closer to the driver than on the previous generation), and it responds fast to inputs. However, the graphics and interface seem to be out of date. Certain features are controlled through physical buttons and knobs; the previous Eclipse Cross’s annoying touchpad controller has been eliminated.

  • A 7-inch touch screen, four speakers, HD Radio, a USB port, and Bluetooth are standard infotainment systems.
  • 8-inch touch screen, navigation, six or eight-speaker audio system, satellite radio, extra USB ports, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available infotainment systems.
  • Additional features include automatic climate control.
  • A panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, and push-button start are other features.

Should I Buy a 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross?

The 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross has comfortable seats and some easy-to-use technological features. Still, it is not as trendy, elegant, and premium as many compact SUV competitors such as the Honda CR-V or Kia Sportage.
