After driving two of the three available powertrains, we prefer to stick with the entry-level turbocharged four-cylinder GLE350 model. Despite being the least powerful option, it propels the GLE-class with enough power to satisfy most drivers, and it also achieved the highest fuel economy in the test drive. We’d allow ourselves to splurge on the Premium package (Burmester audio system, 360-degree camera, and a 115-volt household-style power outlet) and the Warmth and comfort package because we’re saving money by going with the base model (heated front armrests and upper door panels).
