2022 Honda CR-V Review
Table of Contents
Overview
The 2022 Honda CR-V ranks at the top of the compact SUV rankings. The Honda CR-V won’t increase anyone’s heart rate, but its spacious cabin and fuel-efficient powertrains make it an appealing compact crossover. It’s one of our favorites. The CR-V does compete with several attractive compact SUVs.
The 2022 Honda CR-V is mainly unaltered, except for the Touring level having standard all-wheel drive. Overall, that’s not a terrible thing at all. The Honda CR-V remains one of our top choices because of its impressive all-around package. Whether you’re looking for spaciousness, comfort, driving pleasure, or value, the Honda CR-V has covered you.
The Honda isn’t very exciting to drive, and neither its standard turbocharged gas engine nor the hybrid variant is particularly fast, but it steers and stops without any trouble. It competes with newer competitors due to plenty of standard active safety features and popular technology choices. While the 2022 CR-V isn’t the most flashy or refined entry in this very competitive category, it is one of the most enjoyable and talented.

Engine, Transmission, and Fuel Efficiency
In the CR-V, Honda included the company’s first turbocharged engine, a 1.5-liter unit with 190 horsepower, together with one of the finest continuously variable automatic transmissions available. The CR-V has one of the lowest towing capacities among small crossovers, at 1500 pounds. The 2.0-liter four-cylinder and two electric motors combine to produce 212 horsepower in the CR-V hybrid.
The hybrid system is smooth and quiet. The CR-V is offered with two engine options that are fuel-efficient. There are two fuel economy ratings available, 28 mpg city and 34 mpg highway for the gas-only variant and 27 mpg city and 32 mpg highway with all-wheel-drive. As part of comprehensive testing, we put a CR-V with all-wheel drive on a 75-mph highway fuel-economy route, and it returned 28 miles per gallon.
The fuel economy of the CR-V hybrid is expected to be 40 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway. The Toyota RAV4 hybrid, on the other hand, gets 41/38 mpg in the city and on the highway. In real-world testing, we found that the hybrid Honda got 32 miles per gallon, while the Toyota got five more miles per gallon (37 total).

2022 Honda CR-V Interior
What is the seating capacity?
This Honda has a five-passenger capacity. Both rows of seats provide plenty of space, with the back seats among the class’s most spacious. Additionally, the seats are supportive and comfy, and drivers enjoy excellent visibility.
How many Child Car Seats?
The CR-V’s rear outboard seats include two full sets of LATCH connectors, and the back center seat has a tether anchor. The middle seat in the back has a lower anchor, and it can borrow a lower anchor from the passenger seat on the driver’s side.
Interior Quality
The Honda CR-V’s cabin is one of the most spacious in its class, and its elegant design and high-quality materials make it one of the top interiors in its category.
Cargo Space
Few competitors in its class provide as much cargo capacity as the Honda CR-V. It has 39.2 cubic feet of space behind the back seats and 75.8 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats folded down.
Infotainment, Bluetooth, and Navigation
The infotainment system is one of the CR-V’s weaknesses. Most competitors’ infotainment systems have more conventional features, such as touch screens and smartphone connections. These features are available on all trim levels except the base, however even with the more advanced infotainment system, the menu layouts are unintuitive, and the response timing is sluggish, making the system difficult to use.
- A 5-inch touchscreen, a four-speaker stereo, Bluetooth, and a USB port are standard in the infotainment system.
- A 7-inch touch screen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a six-speaker stereo, an eight-speaker stereo, a nine-speaker premium stereo, satellite radio, HD Radio, extra USB ports, wireless device charging, and navigation are all available infotainment features.
- Additional standard features are a climate control system that operates automatically.
- Other features include dual-zone automatic climate control, a moon roof, and a remote start.
