Overview

The completely redesigned 2022 Honda Civic glides to the top of our compact car rankings thanks to its clean interior, comfortable seats, and energetic performance. Throughout its 11 generations, the Honda Civic has typically followed a pattern of revolutionary redesign followed by a more careful evolutionary approach after six years.

The 2022 Civic, being the all-new 11th generation vehicle, comes under the evolution category. The engine options and interior dimensions are relatively similar, the driving experience isn’t noticeably different, and the overall shape is identical. Honda’s famous Civic compact car receives a complete makeover for the 2022 year model, with a more mature look, additional new features, and a revised interior design.

A variety of four-cylinder engines are available, including a turbocharged 1.5-liter. The front-wheel-drive will remain standard, as Honda insists that all-wheel drive is not a part of the plan. Updated technology features like a bigger infotainment display, wireless smartphone connectivity, and enhanced driver-assistance features are all significant improvements that will help the Civic compete with the Hyundai Elantra, Mazda 3, and Toyota Corolla.

What’s Newly Include in 2022

  • Brand new Model

Engine, Transmission, and Fuel Efficiency

Although the new Civic is a complete redesign, Honda has retained the previous generation’s engine choices. The base model is equipped with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 158 horsepower, while the upgraded engine remains a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder producing 180 horsepower.

The new Civic is available only as a front-wheel-drive vehicle. Unfortunately, the previous generation Civic sedan’s manual transmission has been eliminated for 2022, leaving only a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) as an option. A six-speed manual is still available on the hatchback variant.

According to the EPA, the most fuel-efficient version of the new Civic is the mid-level EX, which gets 33 miles per gallon in the city, 42 miles per gallon on the highway, and 36 miles per gallon combined.

What is the seating capacity?

The 2022 Civic sedan and hatchback both seat five passengers. Front seats in all body types have been updated with improved ergonomics and more comfortable cushions. The driver also enjoys superb outward visibility. The Civic Sedan’s rear head and legroom measurements remain unchanged. Adults can fit in the rear seat comfortably, as they did in the preceding Civic generation.

How many Child Car Seats?

The rear outboard seats have two complete sets of LATCH connectors, as well as a tether anchor for the rear center seat.

Interior Quality

The entire redesign of the Civic breathes fresh life into the cabin design. There are some interesting features, such as a carbon mesh-inspired bar that spans the length of the dash and conceals the HVAC vents.

Sleek piano-black accents are too much, although unlike other automobiles with such accents, the surfaces resist fingerprints and smudging. Other than that, all of the cabin materials are excellent. The Civic currently has one of the most elegant interiors in the class.

Cargo Space

The trunk of the 2022 Civic sedan is 14.8 cubic feet. While it is a fraction of a cubic foot less than the previous generation, it is still larger than most compact sedans. Lower sedan models have a second row that folds down as one piece, but higher trims have a 60/40 split-folding rear seat. Honda has not released specific cargo capacities for the new Civic hatchback.

Infotainment, Bluetooth, and Navigation

The Honda Civic includes a touch-screen infotainment system as a standard feature. Its 7-inch display looks nice, and the controls are simple to use. Temperature adjustments are simpler due to the large size and clearly marked physical knobs. The top Touring trim has a bigger touch screen. Navigation and satellite radio are only accessible on the larger touch screen.

  • Standard infotainment features include a 7-inch touch screen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a USB port, Bluetooth, and a four-speaker stereo.
  • A 9-inch touch screen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless device charging, navigation, an additional front USB port, two rear USB ports, a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, satellite radio, HD Radio, voice recognition, an eight-speaker stereo, and a 12-speaker Bose premium stereo are all available in infotainment features.
  • Automatic temperature control and a 7-inch driver information display are included.
  • Other options include proximity keyless entry, remote start, dual-zone automatic temperature control, a moonroof, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
