Review

The 2021 Tesla Model Y all-electric ends in the bottom half of our luxurious SUV and hybrid lists. Though it has a long drive range, its interior design keeps it among its premium competitors. Although it has great results. The Tesla Y Model 2021 offers a lot, including an extensive driving range, powerful driving, and exceptional performance. It is convenient and technologically charged, and the starting price is fair.

It’s not a competition for a top position in our hybrid and electric SUV rankings as it has a few weaknesses, including its so-so cabin quality. It’s still an attractive option and a good class value. The Tesla Model Y 2021 introduces extra cargo room, the third row of available seats, and SUV styling to the brand’s more affordable end. Its frame, interior, and powertrain of the smaller Model 3.

Dual electric motors in Y models have a large power base; Standard Range models are provided with rear-wheel drive, while all-wheel drive is provided by standard long-range and performance models. With a combined range of up to 326 miles per charge, the driving range is superb; more expensive competitors like the Audi e-Tron and Jaguar I-Pace have far less. While there is a shortage of space in the interior for non-EV competitors, such as the Mercedes Benz GLC or Volvo XC60, the interior is still quite spacious and practical if rough around the edges.

What is the seating capacity?

The Model Y has five people seats in its standard two-row setup, so you can add a third row that allows you to sit two more people. Also, the front seats are soft and comfortable for taller occupants and have ample head and legroom. Two adults or three children will easily sit on second-row chairs. Children are better suited for optional third-row seats.

Interior Quality

The clean, modern, elegant cabin in this 2021 Tesla Y cabin distinguishes you from the crowd. The quality of the products is fine, but some critics notice panel fitting problems and other low-quality assembles.

Cargo Space

Many class competitors are less than Model Y’s 68 cubic feet maximum cargo space. This is divided into the main cargo area with all back seats folded and a small trunk on the front, where the vehicle’s conventional engine is mounted. Behind each row of seats, Tesla does not list cargo dimensions.

Infotainment, Bluetooth, and Navigation

Model Y’s huge touchscreen is bigger than anything in most competitors. The menu layout is intuitive and easily responds to inputs. Unfortunately, the lack of physical control ensures that nearly all of the vehicle’s operations, like features such as radio and mirror adjustments, are controlled by the touch screen.

  • Standard features include a 15-inch touch screen, navigation, a hot spot for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, four USB ports, stereo with 14 speakers, HD Radio, and wireless charging.
  • Even more USB ports available in infotainment features
  • Additional standard features: Automatic double-zone climate control and keyless entry
