2021 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class 450 Review

When 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class 450 was first introduced, it pioneered the concept of the “four-door coupe,” and the five-seat mid-size sports car was last revised for 2019.

Power comes from a 3.0-litre inline-six turbocharged engine that produces 362 horsepower in the 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLS 450 rear- or all-wheel-drive and 429 hp in the 2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG CLS 53 performance-oriented all-wheel-drive.

There is a nine-speed automatic transmission in both trim models(rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive 4MATIC). While the 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLS has a swooper exterior look and an interior design unique from the E, its back seat and trunk are less comfortable.

Its sportier version, the 2021 Mercedes-Benz-AMG CLS 53 (reviewed separately), is overmatched by the 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLS450, but it offers the entire class provided by the standard E-class sedan, plus slinky great looks.

For the 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLS 450, the EPA’s fuel economy forecasts are 23 mpg city and 30 mpg highway; adding all-wheel drive decreases those statistics to 22 mpg city and 29 mpg highway. These ratings mean that, with the Audi A7, which is rated at 22 mpg city and 29 highway, the Mercedes is neck-in-neck.

In its cabin style, the polished planes and sloping lines of the exterior of the 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLS-class are mirrored. With an elegant swirl, the dash surrounds front-seat passengers, and a quartet of circular air vents occupy the middle stack.

The overall look of the cabin is premium and undeniably attractive with its Nappa leather upholstery. There’s seating for five, but for those seated in the rear, the car’s swooping roofline takes a toll on the headroom.

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLS-class offers Thirty-five inches of rear-seat legroom. That’s two inches less than the A7 you’re going to get.

There’s not a lot of room in the trunk, particularly considering Benz’s sizable footprint. Cargo capacity estimates a paltry 12 cubic feet of capacity; in contrast,    the A7 serves up 25 cubic feet of space for your stuff.

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLS-class base model comes with Bluetooth phone networking and audio streaming. Furthermore, mobile integration for Apple CarPlay/Android Auto is on hand to help you connect your devices seamlessly.

A 12.3-inch screen and a touchpad controller are included in the infotainment system. A Wi-Fi hotspot, a head-up display and charging of wireless devices are included in the list of optional items.
