Review

In part, due to its dynamic performance and handling, along with its classy interior, the 2021 Mazda CX-9 is near the top medium-class SUV. You need a large SUV family, but you don’t want one. You would not be driving your smaller, more sporty vehicle.  Well, maybe the 2021 CX-9 is a happy medium. Although the CX-9 may be a seven-passenger crossover, driving fun and an interior ambiance are given priority above maximum capacity and practicality.

That means now that there is less cargo room than these vast, long beasts. And larger children will fight to get in their third row. Only seven people can also be seated. In this way, the CX-9 should be seen as a two-row SUV with an extra row for rare occurrences. Honestly, that’s what most people use it for, and if it meets your needs, the CX-9 is an excellent way to go. It is a rewarding, convenient, and capable people hauling who feels, unlike a parent’s punishment.

What is the seating capacity?

The three-row CX-9 can seat 6 or 7 people, whether you have a second-row bench or captain’s seat. It is simpler to reach the third row with the optional sliding and reclining second-row seats, but the space behind it is incredibly tight. The first and second rows are more spacious, and the cab is protected from the sounds of the roads and wind.

Standard are cloth upholstery, heated front seats, and a power-adjustable six-way driver’s seat. Upgrades include leather or premium leather upholstery, a power-adjustable eight-way seat for the driver, a six-way power adjusting the front seat for the passenger, ventilated front seats, heated 2nd-row seats, and a heated steering wheel.

How many Child Car Seats are there?

This car has two complete LATCH connectors for the outboard seat in the second row and a tether anchor for the passenger side seat in the third row.

Interior Quality

The CX-9 is filled with so many quality materials that critics positively compare it with a luxury car of brands such as Lexus or Audi. Higher trims include genuine wood inlays and accents of aluminum.

Cargo Space

Other three-row SUVs lay in Mazda’s cargo area. It has 14.4 cubic feet of capacity with all the seats up and 38.2 cubic feet behind the 2nd row, with both rear rows folded down and a total of 71.2 cubic feet. The Toyota Highlander and Honda Pilot both have a maximum capacity of between 82 and 84 cubic feet. There is both a power lift and a free hand lift.

Infotainment, Bluetooth, and Navigation

The infotainment system MazdaConnect is simple to use. With clear graphics, the touchscreen is broad and responsive. The physical controls are nicely placed.

  • Standard features for infotainment: a 10.3-inch touch screen, Android car, Apple CarPlay, a stereo for up to six speakers, two USB ports, Bluetooth, and a Wi-Fi hot spot
