Review

If you need to transport cargos, tow trailers, or large numbers of passengers, only a few vehicles can satisfy such requirements as a full-size van such as the 2021 Savana. The 2021 GMC Savana is an honest workhorse with little frills and is available with an interior designed for cargo or passengers. Buyers may choose a V-6 or V-8 engine powered by an engine or pick a 4-cylinder diesel engine. All models have plentiful towing and payload capacity as well as a standard or extended body style.

The Savana—and its two twins, the Chevrolet Express–is one of the last full-length old school van designed on top of a frame on a ladder, much like a pickup truck in full size gives it extra strength. The downside for the old school hauler is that its key competitors, Ford Transit, Ram ProMaster, and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, lack contemporary, innovative equipment and fuel-saving powertrains.

The passenger van is fitted with normal seating but can carry 15 extended-wheelbase models. Base LS models come fitted with front and back air conditioning, power windows, power locks, AM/FM MP3 audio system, cruise control, and wheel steering.
