Review

The 2021 Ford Escape PHEV reaches the top third of our compact SUV classification by merging animated performance, a spacious cabin, and an almost top-class predicted reliability ranking. Ford’s new, off-road-capable Bronco signals the brand’s fresh focus on an off-grid adventure, but its Escape crossover also caters to the family-car crowd. All-wheel drive is available, but the Escape does not have a sophisticated all-terrain gear for its new and larger road.

With an alternative hybrid and plug-in hybrid setup, four separate engines are provided to sip fuel and have additional electrical power if necessary. The Escape’s elegant cabin matches its stylish external design, but the cheapest models show a cheap atmosphere, which may be characterized by buyers. The Escape continues to be a good option for compact SUV buyers, considering its flaws, but rivals such as the Mazda CX-5 and Volkswagen Tiguan deliver more refinement, more admirable decoration, and driving pleasure for comparable money.
