Review

The 3.0L Inline-6 Plug-in Hybrid Engine in the 2021 BMW X5 PHEV is paired with an 8-Speed Automatic transmission. The popularity of the American-built X5 is growing, and the addition of the latest PHEV model will undoubtedly improve it even more. Of course, this combination of power, performance, reliability, and technology isn’t inexpensive, but that hasn’t stopped business from moving forward—quite the opposite, in reality.

The 2021 BMW X5 xDrive45e is a plug-in hybrid luxury performance SUV that is more powerful and fuel-efficient than its immediate predecessor. BMW’s new SUV will be going head-to-head with the segment’s best. It will likely become the group leader, with multiple available drive modes, substantial towing capability, driver-assistance systems, a sport-tuned suspension, and a cockpit layout engineered with the driver in mind.

BMW provides equivalent warranty coverage to Mercedes-Benz and Audi but adds three years or 36,000 miles of complimentary scheduled maintenance to sweeten the deal. A similar advantage is available to Volvo owners, although the Buick Enclave has a more extended powertrain warranty.
