Review

Consider the 2021 BMW 8 Series a stylish grand tourer with three performance levels: simple, faster, and bonkers. After a long absence, the nameplate has returned and is now one of BMW’s most powerful models. You’ll get one of the most modern and eye-catching vehicles on the market if you want the coupe, convertible, or four-door Gran Coupe.

The BMW 8-series Gran Coupe, available in 2021, is practical enough to justify purchasing. The Gran Coupe has a much more functional rear seat than the 8-series coupe and convertible (reviewed separately), and with those seats folded flat, the four-door has the two-doors beat on cargo-carrying capacity. The 840i comes standard with a silky-smooth turbocharged inline-six engine and rear-wheel drive; all-wheel-drive xDrive versions are also available.

The M850i model, which has a 523-hp twin-turbocharged V-8 under the hood, is the most powerful; unfortunately, it also has a six-figure price tag. The 8-series Gran Coupe is a sleek and luxurious tourer with the added versatility to help justify the price, whichever option you choose.

In the luxury sports car category, the 8 Series Gran Coupe has the most cargo space. Its 15.5-cubic-foot trunk and 14.8-cubic-foot coupe both outstrip virtually all competitors’ storage spaces. Even the convertible has more room than the average in this class, with 12.4 cubic feet.

Infotainment, Bluetooth, and Navigation

A 10.25-inch touch screen, HD Radio, satellite radio, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a Harman Kardon surround-sound stereo, navigation, Bluetooth, two USB ports, wireless device charging, and a Wi-Fi hot spot are only a few of the features available.
