Review
The 2015 Volkswagen Golf R marks the beginning of the compact, front-wheel-drive cars of the seventh generation. The Golf is enjoyable to drive, with a firm and is a comfortable ride, in both two- and four-door models. Meanwhile, it has become one of the most comprehensive families of compact hatchbacks available with three and five-door body styles and multiple fuel sources. More significant, lighter, and more robust.
A modified version of VW is the turbocharged 2.0-liter, direct-injected inline-4, which makes 150 hp and 236 lb.-ft., which is used in the diesel-powered in the 2015 Golf TDI. The TDI is smooth and quiet, and achieves excellent fuel economy, as expected from diesel that gives 31/42 mpg City/Highway with the manual transmission. The torque is coupled to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed DSG automatic manual transmission.
Compared to the previous-generation 2014 model, For starters, the Golf TDI loses its sportier (and more expensive) multi-link rear suspension in favor of a less sophisticated torsion beam rear axle, which we found to be less composed on the track. On the plus side, the new packaging makes more luggage space than before, putting total cargo capacity in line with other Golf models from 2015.
